Who we are
Muddy Boots Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that funds field trips and hands-on learning experiences for students at underserved schools in Virginia and Washington, D.C. This site is muddybootsfoundation.org.
What we collect
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to share. We use it only to respond to you and keep in touch about the Foundation’s work.
If you fill out our contact form or apply to become a partner school, we receive what you enter: your name, email address, and message, and for schools, your role, phone number, school name and location, and some basic information about the school. The form delivers your submission to our inbox through Resend, an email service. We use it only to respond to you and, for schools, to consider a possible partnership. Our forms also use Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check that looks at basic technical signals from your browser to tell people apart from bots.
If you donate, your donation is processed by Zeffy, our donation platform. Zeffy collects your payment information directly. We never see or store your card details. We receive your name, email address, and donation amount so we can send acknowledgments and tax receipts. Zeffy’s own practices are described in Zeffy’s privacy policy.
Just browsing? We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site, such as which pages are visited, what general region visitors come from, and what kind of device they use. This helps us improve the site. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses, and we don’t send it names, emails, or other personal information. We never sell your information. Photos of students
Partner schools may share photos and notes from their Expeditions. We only accept a photo of a student if the school has a signed release from a parent or guardian, and that release also gives Muddy Boots permission to use it. We collect as little information about students as we can, counting students rather than naming them, and we never publish a student’s full name. If you are a parent and would like a photo of your child removed, email us and we will take it down.
What we do with it
We use the information above to process donations, send receipts and acknowledgment letters, respond to inquiries, and consider and run school partnerships. Apart from the services named above that help us run this site, we will never sell, share, or disclose your personal or financial information to any third party without your consent, except as required by law.
